How debates work

Charcha Rules

Fair structure for every live audio debate on duCharcha.

A Charcha is a structured live audio debate. These rules apply across Practice with Vilom, Debate with Friends, and Compete With Anyone unless a private room host sets stricter house rules.

1. Pick your mode

2. Choose a topic and side

Select a topic or use the Topic Generator. You must clearly state your position (for / against) before the debate begins. Off-topic rants may be penalised in scoring.

3. Speaking turns and time

The platform manages speaking order and timers. Stay within your allotted time; interruptions and excessive crosstalk can lower your delivery score.

4. How winners are decided

The AI judge scores debates in real time on argument strength, rebuttal quality, delivery, and time management. In public rooms, peer judges may also vote. Combined scores determine the winner.

5. AI speech analysis

After each session you receive feedback on confidence, clarity, pace, and persuasion. Reports are for your growth — not a substitute for academic, legal, or professional advice.

6. Charcha Credits and rewards

Earn credits by winning debates, completing Charcha Path milestones, and strong AI scores. Redemption options are shown in-app and may change over time.

7. Hall of Fame

Top performers on the Charcha Path may earn a shareable certificate for LinkedIn. Misrepresentation of rank or credentials is prohibited.

8. Conduct

All participants must follow our Community Guidelines. Hosts may remove participants from private rooms for violations.
